The 2017 GMC Sierra Offers Enhanced Tech and Safety Features
Sierra offers advanced active safety features to protect driver and passengers, keeping them connected with the latest in technology
DUBAI – The all-new 2017 GMC Sierra - maintains the distinct and premium styling of GMC with an added focus on safety and connectivity technologies.
From an engineering perspective, the Sierra’s safety technologies are designed to protect the driver and passengers before, and during a collision. These features include Lane Keep Assist, which helps keep the truck in its lane with subtle steering corrections, and IntelliBeam headlamp control, which automatically adjusts the high beams for oncoming traffic. The now Enhanced Driver Alert Package gains Low Speed Forward Automatic raking for 2017 and is available on the SLT and Sierra Denali models.
In addition, the Forward Collision Alert is intended to make drivers more aware of their surroundings by tracking the vehicle ahead using a forward-facing camera and a three-step visual and sound alert, while the safety alert seat, uses directional vibrations to warn of a crash threat. The new feature in the 2017 Sierra safety alert package is the Low Speed Forward Automatic braking that uses the same camera sensor and supplements the three-step visual, haptic and sound alert by priming the brakes, and ultimately automatically applying the brake if there is no response from the driver in order to stop the vehicle and avoid the crash altogether.
The Sierra’s technology offering promotes safer driving and enhanced connectivity through the latest phone integration via GMC IntelliLink. As well as allowing smartphone users to integrate certain phone functions onto IntelliLink’s color touchscreen where users can call up music, navigation apps, hands-free messaging and more via compatible phones through Apple CarPlay.
Upgrades and enhancements include an all-new radio with a 7-inch-digital color touchscreen that allows for voice recognition syncing to the user’s phone. An 8-inch system is offered further on the higher trim levels and equipment packages with enhanced voice command.
Moreover, a new feature of wireless phone charging is available on SLE and SLT double cab and crew cab models with available bucket seats and is standard on Sierra Denali. As well as entertainment packages that include DVD/Blu-Ray player, wireless remote control, a 9.2-inch-diagonal LCD display and two sets of wireless headphones offered on the SLT crew cab and Sierra Denali.
The new Sierra remains constant in its capability and power on demand. Its available 6.2L V-8 engine, with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque (623 Nm), is the most powerful offered in a light-duty pickup truck. It is backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission that supports a 5,443 Kg maximum trailering rating under SAE J2807 Recommended Practices.
The Sierra Denali 2017 continues the tradition of being the only full-size truck to offer real-time damping thanks to Magnetic Ride Control and remains the most technically advanced truck on the market.
Furthermore, the entire Sierra lineup is available with a number of features that are engineered for serious towing. Including the available NHT max trailering package, which features a 9.76-inch rear axle, heavy-duty rear springs, unique shock tuning, enhanced cooling and an integrated trailer brake controller to optimize capability and comfort when trailering.
The new 2017 GMC Sierra is available in new exterior colors including Dark Slate Metallic, and Pepperdust Metallic.
